Greetings Family & Friends! Welcome to our new blog.
On July 6, we will begin a much-anticipated adventure. For over a year, we have been preparing to move to Tehran, Iran to serve with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in a student exchange program that focuses on Peace Building and Interfaith Dialogue.
From July 6-16 we will be at MCC Headquarters in Akron, PA for orientation. We are really looking forward to learning more about the organization we will be serving with, as well as meeting many other people who are moving overseas in the next few months. There will be three others at this orientation who are also moving to other parts of the Middle East, and we look forward to developing relationships with them over the next three years.
On July 17 we will fly non-stop from New York to Amman, Jordan. There we will receive more orientation and training from our Directors, Daryl and Cindy Byler. At this time, we are unsure when we will actually be traveling into Iran as we wait for our visas to be approved.
Our hope for this blog is that you would be able to know as much as possible about our lives in Iran so that we can stay connected to you from so far away. Additionally, we hope that we can share stories about Iran and the people we meet that might help to create a greater understanding of this nation. We are so excited for you to be involved in this journey!
