These huge chandeliers were a gift from the king of Saudi Arabia. The mosque was really gorgeous, and so peaceful and quiet inside. I'm glad we went - it was an important part of my understanding of Lebanon's history and national identity.

Al-Amin Mosque
Two of downtown Beirut's most famous landmarks are Martyr's Square and the Mohammad Al-Amin Mosque. On our last morning in Beirut, we visited these sites and learned more about the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafic Hariri - who built the mosque and is now buried there.
