I know we've been kind of silent recently on the subject of our visas - we have been waiting (as patiently as possible) for news from Iran. Things have been held up for one reason or another, and it never seemed like anything was really firm enough to write home about, until today! While the long-term (3 years in Iran?) is still up in the air, it does look like we will be able to get a 1-3 month visa to visit the country, take a short-term course in Islam and meet with university officials about a longer program of study. Our best guess is that we'd be going sometime in October. We're taking this one day at a time.
In the meantime, we've planned a short trip to Lebanon in late September. Ryan and I will be visiting the lady that directs the MCC office there, meeting some MCC partners and taking a couple days for sight-seeing. We're pretty excited about that! Actually, September is turning out to be kind of a holiday month. Ramadan ends this Thursday - September 9th. Following is Eid, for which we have the 10th-14th off from work. Then Lebanon. Then a staff retreat from September 26-29! It will probably all fly by pretty quickly. We'll keep you all posted on any other newsworthy items as they come up.
