A lot has happened here in a short period of time! We spent 3 wonderful days in Petra over the weekend, hiking and exploring and generally having a great time (pictures to come soon). Unfortunately, we think we may have picked up some kind of nasty bug there and got sick the night we returned to Amman (Sunday). The next 24 hours were spent alternately packing like crazy and lying in the fetal position in a dark room. We had to cut some kilos from our luggage in order to get to Lebanon and after a feverish day (figuratively and literally) we boarded Royal Jordanian from Amman to Beirut on Tuesday. We've spent a couple of days recovering here and will start getting oriented to Lebanon's MCC office today. We will be working with Imam Sadr Foundation in the southern Lebanon city of Tyre. We are still working out the details of what that work will be. We will be waiting in Beirut until the foundation secures housing for us in Tyre. Additionally, we will still be waiting for word from Iran on a final decision on our visas. However, we anticipate that it could be another 2-3 months before we know anything for sure. Well, that's the business side of the Snyder Thompson family.
Personally, we were very pleased to welcome Nephew #2 on November 1! Elijah is Ryan's sister's 3rd child and we can't wait to meet the little guy (although by the time we meet him he will not be so teeny-tiny as he is now).
We'll blog some more later this week with pictures from Petra and more news about our new life in Lebanon!
